ABOUT ME:
Hello and Welcome, I'm Gary Garrett. Life in Arizona, with its beautiful landscapes and warm summers, has been my home since 1982. Following in my late father's footsteps as a State Farm agent in Colorado Springs, I moved to Phoenix and Scottsdale to establish my own career in insurance. My approach is straightforward: I strive to make insurance easier for you, working to find comprehensive coverage that aligns with your budget.
Beyond my professional life, I’ve developed a new passion for gardening, a shift from my years of riding a Harley. My travels through Asia, especially visiting the vibrant fruit markets, fascinated me with exotic fruits I had never seen before. This sparked an idea: despite the heat in Phoenix and Scottsdale, we could grow these unique plants if we addressed the soil and water challenges. With significant effort in digging and utilizing common sprinkler systems, I began building my own garden. I share my garden's progress periodically on Facebook; you can follow my updates at Gary Garrett State Farm Scottsdale. My global adventures also took me to North Vietnam in May of 2022, where I enjoyed meeting the Hmong tribal people and riding a motorcycle on the beautiful Ha Giang loop. My TikTok handle is Travelingboomer1.
My academic journey led me to graduate from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Speech Pathology. The athletic department paid my tuition awarding me a division one gymnastics scholarship. I am a Husband & Proud father of four talented daughters and a grandfather to seven. Community involvement is important to me; for the past decade, I have served as a Board Member for Global Involvement Through Education, supporting educational projects in many developing nations. I am also a board member of Southwest Water Conservation, where we teach water-saving tips in schools. My diverse past hobbies include skiing, rock climbing, genealogy, ice hockey, figure skating, and pole vaulting. I proudly pole vaulted 3 meters in 2008 and won the Arizona Senior Olympia meet two years in a row for my age group. I can communicate using basic American Sign Language and am currently immersing myself in studying Vietnamese.
